Cookie policy | VEI

Last review: May 9, 2026

This policy describes the cookies and similar technologies VEI may use, including technical storage, consent preferences, and Google Tag Manager with Consent Mode v2 to prepare Google Analytics 4.

1. What cookies are

Cookies and similar technologies allow information to be stored or retrieved on your device. They may be necessary to provide a requested service, remember preferences, or measure site usage.

Rules distinguish between necessary technologies, which may be used without consent when essential, and non-essential technologies, such as analytics or advertising, which require prior consent.

2. Current use at VEI

The public website does not need advertising cookies to function. Consent is initialized as denied by default; Google Tag Manager only loads if you accept analytics, and the consent manager stores your choice in localStorage.

Google Analytics 4 will be configured inside Google Tag Manager. Analytics remains denied and should not write measurement cookies unless you accept analytics.

The private CMS uses a secure session cookie to authenticate administrators. Editorial preview routes may use technical preview cookies only for authorised users.

3. Cookie and storage table

The table below reflects the intended configuration and must be reviewed whenever new tags are added inside Google Tag Manager.

_ga / _ga_*Google AnalyticsDistinguish visits and measure site usage if analytics is accepted.Up to 2 years depending on configuration.Consent.

4. Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics

VEI uses Google Tag Manager to manage Google Analytics 4. Before the container loads, the website sets default consent to denied for analytics, advertising, advertising user data, and advertising personalisation. The container only loads if analytics is accepted.

If analytics is rejected, analytics_storage remains denied and GA4 should not write measurement cookies. In advanced Consent Mode, Google may receive technical consent-state signals without analytics storage being granted.

5. Managing and withdrawing consent

You can accept, reject, or configure analytics from the initial banner. Afterwards, you can change your choice from the Manage cookies button in the footer.

You can also delete cookies and local storage from your browser. If you block necessary storage, some features such as preferences, preview, or CMS sessions may not work correctly.

6. Third parties and changes

Google may process technical data such as online identifiers, device information, visited pages, and navigation events when analytics is accepted. You should also review Google's privacy documentation.

If VEI adds new tags, purposes, or providers, this policy will be updated and, where required, consent will be requested again.
